I went on this trip a while back from Denver to LA. I drove through some really scenic roads and landscapes. When the views are nice I tend to stop and pullover a lot on my way. I passed through some amazing mountain landscapes at first through the Rockies and then the landscapes started getting more arid as I made my way through the state of Utah. I had woken up very early so I wasn’t very worried about making it to my destination for the night, which was Las Vegas in Nevada. As I was driving down scenic route 12 in Utah I saw this amazing waterfall. So naturally I pulled over to check it out. I ended up staying a little while and even took a dip in the water which felt amazing under the hot desert sun. But when I packed up my stuff and got ready to head back on the road, I noticed that my motorcycle’s tire is flat. And what sucked was I was in the middle of nowhere. This is when you realize how important it is to always have some essential motorcycle parts with you when you are traveling.
Not having motorcycle parts can make you very anxious!
If I had an extra tube or an electric pump with me I could have easily fixed my tire. But unfortunately I didn’t have either one with me and I was basically stuck in the middle of nowhere all by myself. Worst of all I did not have reception for my phone and could not call anybody to come and help me fix it. It was so frustrating because if I had the parts I would be back on the road very soon. The only thing I could think of was to walk to the main road and see if anybody passes by who could help me. But the main road was really far and I thought by the time I get to the main road it would already be dark. I was extremely nervous.
Luckily the calendar worked in my favor
It seemed like there was nothing I could do so I just decided to camp there for the night. I was lucky to have my tent with me. I was surprised that not a single person passed by all night. The next morning I woke up to the sound of dozens of people screaming and yelling. When I unzipped my tent I noticed there were lots of people swimming under the waterfall. I asked someone how come there was no one there the night before and he said because it only gets crowded on the weekends! Long story short, I was lucky to have this happen to me on a Friday because I got one of these people to put my motorcycle on the back of their pickup truck and drive me to the nearest repair shop.
